What do you get when you bring together the world’s best mountaineers? Something completely new! The athletes on the LOWA PRO Team worked with LOWA on the ALPINE SL GTX and scrutinised every detail. True to the motto “less is more”, the PU scree collar is now being sprayed onto the robust synthetic material to shed weight. A carbon shank and extremely light Vibram®-Alp-Trac®-SL outsole reduce the weight further. The end result is a colourful Alpine boot that weighs just 550 grams per boot. Whilst reducing the weight, the mountaineering boot experts kept stability in mind. Other key details include a functional dual-zone lacing system and a waterproof GORE-TEX lining. When you add it all together, you get a light Alpine boot that performs like a pro on the mountain and is making a strong impression on Alpinists.
• GORE-TEX® – Guaranteed weather protection, even in pouring rain and heavy snow: The ALPINE SL GTX is equipped with a GORE-TEX membrane. The innovative technology delivers optimal waterproof protection and breathability.
• 2-Zone-Lacing – Thanks to the two-zone lacing system used in the ALPINE SL GTX, the forefoot and upper have their own separately adjustable lacing zones. As a result, the shoe can be individually adapted to the anatomy of the foot and laced in different ways for ascents and descents.
• CLOSE TO THE GROUND - People who venture across Alpine terrain face many challenges. Fields of loose rocks, rocky outcrops and rough terrain place the highest demands on footwear. For this reason, LOWA uses the technologies of CLOSE TO THE GROUND in the ALPINE SL GTX to create a good feel on the surface. The sole is designed in such a way that the distance to the ground is kept to a bare minimum. The height minimisation throughout the entire shoe creates a natural feel during challenging tours and provides stable footing on uneven terrain.
• CLOSE TO THE ROCK - People who venture across Alpine terrain face many challenges. Fields of loose rocks, rocky outcrops and rough terrain place the highest demands on footwear. For this reason, LOWA uses the technologies of CLOSE TO THE ROCK in the ALPINE SL GTX to create a good feel on the rock. The toe area of the shoe is designed in such a way that the distance to the rock is kept to a bare minimum.
• FIT RIBBON - The minimalistic lacing strip for the ALPINE SL GTX produces both the highest level of functionality and maximum weight reduction. The two directly interwoven bands are easy to tie and the lacing is optimally threaded. In selecting the material, LOWA focused on the durability and toughness of the bands.
• Minimal Seams -Stitches and material overlaps are eliminated in the ALPINE SL GTX thanks to the use of large pieces in forming the upper. This reduces the possibility of pressure points, a feature that enhances comfort.
• LOWA REPTEX - LOWA REPTEX prevents the upper material of the ALPINE SL GTX from being damaged by objects like sharp rocks. In comparison with rubber, the effective reinforcement reduces the total weight and increases performance on the mountain.
• The ALPINE SL GTX has a CLIMBING ZONE. This is a flat component in the front sole area that facilitates easy climbs. The VIBRAM® ALP TRAC® SL is the lightweight member of alpine performance soles thanks to Vibram® Litebase technology. Precise movement on steep rock faces and solid grip are produced by the moderately high tread depth of the stud arrangement that has been designed in particular for alpine terrain and a large “climbing zone” on the sole tip. The result: less weight despite high performance.
